The very first ax I ever found. This full groove ax found 7/17/86 in Hancock County Indiana was after over ten years of hunting relics. Who would of thought this would open the flood gates to a plethora of ax's and celts found.

A nice full grooved ax I found 5/20/2001 while hunting with Darrell Cross in Rush County Indiana. He passed this ax without seeing it, but only a small portion of the groove and poll was visible.

A nice full grooved ax I found 11/11/2001 while hunting with Pam Sheets in Rush County Indiana.

A nice full grooved ax I found 3/31/2001 while hunting with Darrell Cross in Henry County Indiana. (reverse) This ax was found almost as soon as Darrell and I entered the field. The time was about 4PM. I had gotten off work at 1:30PM and drove to his house in Ingalls since his phone was always busy. When I got there Carla told me that he had went to Lowes Hardware. I asked her to tell him to come on over quick to go out searching. So I went home and suited up. While waiting I decided to do some work aroung the house. We hit the field ASAP and bingo! I found this withing two minutes of entering the field.

A very nice, and scarce, polished slate ax from Marion County Indiana found by Anton Plonges. Read about this location in my column The Lesson of Mr. Ploenges Farm published in IAM Vol 18-1

The largest hardstone relic I ever found. This relic was found in St. Louis County Missouri in the winter of 1986. Teresa Naugle with me the day I found this relic. There is an incised edge all around the relic, with a small flat area on what could be considered the base. It looks as if it has been buried in red ocher. The location has produced many fine relics. The day this was found was very wet and cold, I almost did not carry it due to its size. Glad I did!

This grooved hammer found in Rush County Indiana was found on the same day I found a complete drill, half a wing banner, many points, a 1820 cent in VF condition, and an old bottle. I found many different items that day! Darrel was with me the day I found this.

One of the finest 3/4 groove ax's I ever found. This ax was found 6/4/89 in Hancock County Indiana in the same field as my first ax, and the field that would produce many more. Darrel and Debbie was with me the day I found this ax. A better image, and from the top

A nice undamaged full groove Ax. Here is the reverse. I found two axes in less than twenty minutes, both complete without any damage in Hancock County Indiana 5/25/98.

The second ax found is smaller. Note how the reverse is ground from use polish. Here is the image off the poll. Both found in Hancock County Indiana 5/25/98. Read about this location in my column Two Time the Funs Memorable Memorial Day soon to be published in Indian Artifact Magazine.

The full groove ax was found 5/20/95 in Hancock County Indiana. Fine symmetry of the bit and deep groove makes this an appealing ax. This was found within fifteen feet from a great hoof pestle I also found that same day.

This small full groove ax was found 5/20/90 in Rush County Indiana. (reverse) This relic is thin and without any serious damage. Only a few minor plow strikes are on its body. This bit is without damage. Not the patina which is evident on the relic.

This oval shaped ax was found 4/29/89 Hancock County Indiana on a rise east of Surgar Creek in an area which my parents owned land. (reverse) This ax is well defined and has no damage except a few minor plow strikes. With me when I found this ax was Darrell Cross and Debbie. In fact Debbie was walking around the top of a rise. I walked to her to speak with her and noticed she had walked right past this ax. So I went over and picked it up and said to her that she needs to look for other relics besides points. Many fine slate artifacts had been found in this field in the past.

This ax from Rush County Indiana, was found with the large Hopewell rectangular celt. (reverse) The ax was found completely exposed in a furrow. This and the Mississsippian square poll celt was found the same day. With me when I found this celt was Darrell Cross

This ax from Hancock County Indiana, was found 6/2/96. (reverse) This shows a lot of use and abuse. With me when I found this celt was my brother Doug Anderson.

This ax from Marion County Indiana, was found 10/22/88 when hunting with Darrell Cross. This is a pecked but unfinished ax. I also found a chipped slate preform the same day about ten minutes prior to this find.
