Pipe Tomahawk w/ original Handle

Very old brass Pipe Tomahawk ex - Ben Thompson
22 inch pipe stem with two 3/8 brass bands around the stem by the blade. 38 brass tacks on the stem, 2 each of which hold each of the brass bands. The pipe tomahawk head is 8 3/8 in length with a blade bit of 2 1/16 long. The bowl rises 1 3/4 from the base and has what appears to be a pewter band encompassing the bowl. A cross has been engraved above the band on two sides of the bowl. Original wood handle / pipe stem. Extremely rare. Very old tag reads: "Property of M.S. Garrison" "Sioux Indian War Club" Purchased from Ben Thompson. Ben Thompson was an original founders of the Greater St. Louis Archaeological Society, edited and published No. 3,4,5,6 and 7 of the "Who's Who in Indian Relics" Series. AE2008

Spontoon Pipe Tomahawk ex - Ben Thompson
pipe stem / handle is approximately 23 3/4"; pipe bowl is approximately 1 2/2 inches; blade 5 1/2" x 2 1/2" with curled finials. Eleven brass tacks adorn the top of the stem/handle towards the pipe area. Original handle / pipe stem.
